they only allow a few photos for each post so here are a few more!!!

Field Trip to the Autry museum

Today I did my motherly duty and chaperoned Jimi's whole 5th grade to LA to the Autry Museum. It was a fun time. I didn't know much about it but it was mainly a cowboy museum. They had a lot of Buffalo Bill, Anny Oakly and Tom Micks things. They even had things from the Salt Lake temple and the first Book of Mormon translated in Europe and in Danish. I was impressed. The kids in our group were great!!! A friend of mine Marcie and I teamed up and I rode down with her so we wouldn't have to ride with the screemin kids on the stinky bus. I was glad I went. Jim has his pre-op stuff tomorrow, and surgery on Friday, so it actually got my mind off all of that which I NEED right now. I will update again soon but here are some pictures I took of of my new phone. It took great pictures and even has a brighten and darken button which was great in a darkened museum. Thanks to Ms. Greagory for taking them, and us!!

Happy 11th Birthday Jimi Lee

Well, we had a BIG birthday bash here on Saturday! Complete with about 16 kids pizza, karaoke and pizza, soda, cake and ice cream. They dressed up like rock stars, I even joined in on the fun. Some of the other parents stayed to keep me company. It was definitely fun for the kids, but I would probably never do it again. We do feel blessed that she made it to her 11th birthday, we try not the think about it, but she was so close to not making it that it's hard to not look back on her life and be thankful. We have a tradition in our house. For every kids birthday, I go in there room to tuck them in and tell them about the day they were born. So I was telling Jimi about her day and it was hard for me to remember details so I thought I should write it down. So here it is.

I wasn't due until I think March 16th with Jimi, we lived in Bakersfield. For about 3 days before I had her I was having braxton Hicks contractions, and not the small ones, they were horrible uncomfortable, I thought I would die, I even went to the hospital and got sent home. Finally I was so uncomfortable the Dr. decided to induce labor on the morning of the 13th 1997. Jims mom (Tommie) and Tabi (sister) came down to be there with us, we had a friend Michelle come to watch Alex and went to have my baby boy. (The ultrasound was POSITIVE that she was a boy)When we got there they said all the beds were full and I would have to wait. We went to the cafeteria had a bite to eat and went back up. They hooked me up the pitocin at about10am by 11 I had my epidural (remember I had been in pain for days) I was nice and relaxed. So when it was time to push I had a pretty easy time and I looked up to see our new son when I said, before the Dr. could "Oh my gosh Jim, it's a girl" when he said, "no it's not" and the Dr. said yep it's a girl. We were so excited, we wanted a girl, we already had Alex and were happy to have a daughter. Tommie and Tabi ran down and exchanged some shirts they had bought that said "I am the baby brother" before it was too late. Easy labor, once I got there, and easy delivery, right around 4 hours she weighed 7lbs 4oz. She was beautiful, but I was tired and Jim stayed up with her most the night while I tried to sleep between feedings. Believe it or not thinking she was a boy her name wasn't going to be Jimi, it was going to be Trever. I wanted a girl named Jimi. Jim was a little less enthusiastic at the time, but it fits her now. Alex just loved his sissy, but wondered why we didn't feed her, he used to sneak his dinner plate to her and want her to eat it, he didn't understand nursing a baby. She had colic for about 2 months and Jim used to bounce her on one arm for at least 2 hours a night, and she LOVED her swing and baths in the sink. She has blessed our lives greatly, and caused A TON of stress and heartache and I know it won't be the last time. Happy Birthday Jimi Lee Hurley, we love you so much! glad you stuck around for another birthday!!

I know, I know it's about time!! I have a friend Karrie, who updates here's ALL the time, I am trying to be like her because I love checking her new entries. She had a new baby on Sunday (almost in the elevator of the hospital) and already has pictures of her up.

Well, Virginia was AMAZING, we went to the Temple and the wedding was beautiful and the bride was even more breath taking. And to top it all off she just found out she is pregnant!! They wanted to start their family right away so they are so so happy!! So am I cause it's like I will be an aunt again, and I will probably plan a trip to go meet my new niece/nephew when it arrives.

Things are going good for us, we have been going horse back rididng a lot lately, Jimi wants to be a barrel racer and we KNOW she could do it, we even found a trainer that heard of Jimi's story that really wants to train her, the only problem?? We don't have a horse, or a place to keep it. All the kids love going to see the horses, even if we just go clean stables or feed them, they enjoy it a lot. This weekend we are going to watch a Jimcana (sp?) show, the kids are excited. It's like a club that teaches people to train their horses for all kinds of things, jumping, barrels, and even cattle hearding. It's a neat thing.

Our Biggest Loser started up again and this time I am going to keep up with it!! The pot this time is REALLY big and that is a great bonus. I have gained a lot of weight lately so I need to slim down and tone up, now that I'm 30 I hear it's all down here from now on. I've been working out for a week and have had a good workout every day (except weekends because my body needs a break) and watching what I eat, I even found diet ice cream, made with splenda. Instead of having 140 calories per half cup it has only 80. It tastes ok. I'm not a HUGE ice cream fan but my theory on dieting is moderation. If I crave chocolate and deprive myself then when I finally get some I OVER indulge, so if I have some on hand and have just a small amount I am fine. So I am back to my half diet, I only eat half of what I normally would. Half of dinner half a candy bar and so on. A few years ago I lost about 35lbs by doing this and working out every day so for me I KNOW it works. It already has, I have already lost quiet a bit of weight. Its fun to get together with the girls every week for our weigh in's even for a short time. And I have met a lot of REALLY great people through it. If you know anyone who wants to join tonight is the last night so give me a call and we'll get you signed up.

My family has been sick again. Last week I was sick with a cold for about a day and a half, then the rest of the family came down with it. Then they started the stomach thing too, which I HATE. It's one thing to clean up puke when your kids are little but when they are 7 it is plain gross. Trever woke in the middle of the night, sat up and puked (we heard him) then laid back down and went back to sleep, then he started coughing and choking (not bad) on it. It scared me that he was sleeping that good so I panicked all night that he would choke to death on it. So I cleaned it up and even bathed him and he doesn't remember a thing. Usually, even in the middle of the night they make it to the toilet. They are all back to school today and so far no calls to go pick them up.

I ordered school pictures today. They are SO expensive. I mean if they have on child it's not so bad, but with 4 it is ridiculous. I spent $104 and didn't get that much, but they all did turn out good (from the proofs) so I think I will be happy with them.

I am slowly spring cleaning. Well I did the kids rooms, and changed them up a little bit in hopes the change would keep them up on picking up after themselves, they are doing better. I took their bunk beds apart to limit the floor space that can get messy we'll see how it works. My friend Marcie gave me so hand me downs ( Don't you LOVE that? New cloths and stuff without the price) and gave us some bedding. I put it on Sami's bed and it has a canopy and lights and everything. She just LOVES it, and she feels like it is her OWN space. My kids don't get a lot of that because the house is small, the family is big and that's what happens when you share a room. Now I have to move on to my room or the dreaded kitchen, which I HATE because it is old and even when it's clean it doesn't look like it is. I am ready to start remodeling again, so if anyone wants to donate to my remodel fund feel free, I'm past the prideful part! HEHEHEHE ( I am joking)

It's baseball/softball season!! The girls tried out, even Sami. Jimi did great, we had no worries about her, she is just an all around athlete and pretty much a natural. We were a little worried about Sami, but she surprised us. Her fielding was a little slow, but she hit EVERY ball when she was up to bat. We were impressed by her. The boys try out Wednesday night. It's going to be so hard. The games are all local but the boys are in Isabella and the girls are in Kernville and we won't know when or where practices are until they get placed on a team, so I am a little worried about that. Then as soon as the season is over, Football/Cheerleading starts and that is a grueling schedule. I just think sports are so important for kids, and while we're able we need to let them try a few different ones she they can decide what they like and are good at. We think Alex is going to do great, this just may be his sport, I guess we will see. Trever is like Jimi and just a natural athlete. We also need leverage for Alex to keep his grades up.

My van is shot!! It over heats everywhere I go, so I am back to driving the old burb. It's not that bad but I miss my van. The insurance adjusted was out yesterday and is going to get me a check ASAP but even once I get it in the shop it's going to take them about 2 weeks to fix it. I will survive, at least we do have a second car, the problem is now we need a third until mine gets back. We are fortunate to have so much family around for help with this.

Well, there is your update, I am really going to try to make them more often, even if it's just a picture or just a note. Thanks for taking the time to look and check up on us!!
